Our Classes

 Northfield Nursery School is a non-profit, family-involved Northfield preschool that offers part-day classes for children. We help children develop socially, emotionally, physically, and cognitively for future educational endeavors.

We offer a variety of classes

Northfield Nursery School is proud to offer the following classes for children ages 3, 4, and 5.

You may select one class, combine 2-day and 3-day mornings to create a 5-day experience, or add on a Lunch Bunch option. Lunch Bunch is offered Monday through Friday. Classes begin in September and run through mid-May, dates vary depending on the calendar school year.

 Our classes are designed to promote the intellectual, physical, social and emotional development of children in a manner consistent with the child's cultural background.

  • Monday, Wednesday & Friday Morning Class

    8:30 - 11:30 a.m.

    This three-day class is often selected selected for 4 or 5-year-olds, or children who have completed a year of preschool already.

  • Tuesday & Thursday Morning Class

    8:30 - 11:30 a.m.

    This two day a week class has often been selected for 3 year olds, or children who are just beginning their preschool experience.

  • Monday-Friday Class

    Combine the two class options for a five day schedule to help your little one be extra prepared for kindergarten.

  • Lunch Bunch

    11:30 - 12:30 p.m.

    This add on class is offered Monday-Friday. This is a great tool to help your preschooler experience lunch in a group setting. Sign up will be offered in advance, and the cost will be $10 per lunch session (parents will provide lunch).

The following are examples of activities available to children attending NNS

Intellectual

science experiments, math activities, stories, puzzles & games with rules

Physical Movement

rhythm, manipulative toys, blocks and building materials, art, large muscle play, sensory play & outdoor play

Social

dramatic play (dress up, housekeeping, etc.), snack & self-directed learning time

Emotional

art (paint, play dough, etc.), creative movement & dramatic play

FAQs

  • When your child has had their 3rd birthday and is fully potty trained they are ready to join us at preschool!

  • The NNS Director, along with the Board of Directors, will consider on a case by case basis, adjusting the age of entry into classes offered at NNS for children who have birthdays ranging from June 1st to August 31st ONLY, and who intend to begin kindergarten at the age of 6.

  • Northfield Nursery School does not discriminate on the basis of race, sex, religion, creed, color, national origin, handicap, or source of payment. Acceptance to the school is on a first come, first served basis by the date of application.
